Narrative on Becoming an Artist
My beginning art form was painting still life in watercolor, and I later developed a broad interest and passion for acrylic, quilting, and blending handmade paper and fiber. I sometimes use embellishments like metal, found objects, and symbolism to produce surreal images, in an array of colors.
Over the past fifteen years my quilt making has included, of course quilts for family, and diverse traditional and statement quilts. This art form has given me the opportunity to explore historic periods in America, social issues and personal values. “These art forms give voice to my world, and meaning to my life”.
My art work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, in museums galleries and other diverse locations. I have participated in art related events and exhibitions with the following organizations; Pierians, Inc., Women of Visions, Inc., Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh, and the Women of Color Quilters Network
